School requires me to drag around an inordinate amount of articles and books. I refuse to wear a packsack (I'd rather throw out my back, thanks), and I don't like messenger bags. I finally found the perfect "school bag." I own a few M0851 purses (back in the day when they were called Rugby North America), but size-wise they are too small. So, here's the new addition to my purse/bag collection: the Twill flat front pocket bag (colour-wise I chose black on black).

Bassam El-Okeily's "The Narrow House" makes my heart explode. Is the structure not reminiscent of Alfred Hitchcock in some ways?

why doesn't anyone in Toronto carry this line?

Meet cocotte (top photo) and cocorico by le coq sportif. Growing up, my childhood dog of 18 years was named cocotte (it’s a term of endearment in French.) Ah, what a sweet bag to match such sweet memories.

“The central theme of the magazine was countries and borders. As opposed to traditional fashion photography where the newest clothes are displayed on a human body in order to sell an ideal, I created still lives depicting maps and landscapes.”
“The word Quicker, as if it was quickly moving from left to right.” All images c/o Corriette Schoenaerts

"The Urban Logs Collection from Ilan Dei Studio is the latest line of furniture to be released in their limited edition collection. Focusing on “urban renewal” each piece gives new life to urban and suburban trees that have been previously removed and are destined to become waste or firewood." c/o Ilan Dei Studio

"Whether you’re religious or not, this old Dominican church will certainly bring you the enlightenment you’ve been seeking. After months of renovation this magnificent structure originally constructed in 1294 has opened its doors to the public as a “brand new” bookstore in the heart of Maastricht. A superb example of adaptive re-use, the Selexyz Dominicanen infuses rich and historic architecture with plentiful shelves ripe with information. Dating back to the 13th century, the structure was a Dominican church until Maastricht was invaded by Napoleon in 1794 and the group was forced out of the country. Since that point it has been briefly used as a parish, then a warehouse, then an archive, then a giant parking lot for bicycles (not such a terrible idea) and finally made over into a bookstore by the architecture firm Merkx + Girod." (c/o inhabit)
I'd like to nominate a few churches on both St. Clair and Roncesvalles for this adaptive re-use.

Officially on "winter" break
I've managed to complete my first term as a doctoral student without 1) crying or 2) being asked to leave the program. Utterly shocking! Growing up, my Nonni's would have an assortment of traditional xmas cakes and desserts (from panettone to torrone). While I do not celebrate xmas (Santa tends to skip Baha'i homes), I still enjoy celebrating the beautiful packaging these cakes come in. Buy one for the box.
