Since I've returned to Toronto and have (foolishly) decided to spend the next 4 years in school, my kind sister has taken pity upon me. She not only allows me to ramble on about assignments, but she's also kindly treated me to a Robyn Cumming print. I've admired Cumming's work for quite some time now.

"The series is titled Lady Things and each one is just that, a sort of feminine entity that hovers between a lady and a creature or even an object. I wanted to create something that acted more like a vessel within and upon which I could layer various iconic projections of the feminine."

On an unrelated note, I may have accidentally deleted a ton of the blog's comments while trying to organize the comment section. Something to do with incorrectly sending comments to the spam folder and forever deleting them!?

I own and continue to be in love with this piece. Whatson's stenciling skills are astounding.

Oh bunny girl, my sweet bunny girl

I came across Faile's 'bunny girl' too many months ago. Since then, I've thought about it too many times. How much do I love this print? Enough to finally want to live with it. She should be arriving shortly and it appears that she loves her bunny (or has really unhealthy attachment issues.)

Every year, I purchase one piece of artwork. One piece of artwork from a list of artists I've maintained for years. This year, I chose a piece by Caroline Hwang. I've admired her work for quite some time, and I especially love the combination of graphics, acrylics, and textiles.

Artist of the week: Christian Huffman

If I was able to pack anything from home for Israel, I would have taken my Huffman paintings in a heartbeat. They are by far the artwork I miss the most. Partly since they were my first "art purchase" of any significance and I never tired of their company. Each new day, brought out their beauty even more.

I have no idea if Mr. Huffman is still painting, but I was delighted to find his webpage (this may or may not be updated) at the following site.

Artist of the week: Soheila Esfahani

Poetic composition VIII – privately owned by me.

Not because I own and adore one of her works, but simply because her creations are insanely beautiful and deserve praise. Mrs. Esfahani is an artist located in Kitchener, Ontario who's work focuses on the nature of spirituality (our quest for reunion with the Beloved) by combining the poetry of Rumi with Persian calligraphy. www.soheila.ca
