Artist of the week: Nérée De Grâce

La Vente des pauvres, 60 x 75 cm
Les boeufs à la courte-pointe, 40 x 50 cm

There is something so incredibly magical about art. I first learned about Nérée De Grâce years ago, when out of the blue I stumbled upon his artwork in Ottawa. It only took one viewing of one of his paintings to spark a huge fascination and love of art ever since. While none of the art I own falls into the "naïf / folklore" genre, his paintings continue unfailingly to evoke an emotional response on my part. My response might also have something to do with being French-Canadian as his artwork miraculously "gets it" in such a way I have never been able to express in words. His work simply touches my heart.
