What do pictures want?

Last year, I read a striking review of W.J.T. Mitchell's What do Pictures Want? The Lives and Loves of Images and patiently waited for it to be released on soft cover. It is an exceptionally well-researched and thought-provoking book on how images allows us ways of worldmaking (similar to how language makes the world rather than simply referring to the world). By making the relationality of images and beholder the field of investigation, he reorients images as active players with interests and desires.
