Musical interlude of the week: Lisa Germano

I adore Lisa Germano. I discovered her work circa 1995, and her music has accompanied me for years. She will be releasing her 8th album mid-september entitled Magic Neighbor (a track can be heard here), and was also recently featured in the Believer magazine's Music Issue (July/August 2009). Why she isn't more readily known has remained a mystery to me. lisagermano.com

"I see your eyes looking at me / Oh yeah, all right, love has started to take / You have given / I have taken a picture / This might not last forever" - baby on the plane, from the album excerpts from a love circus

"Pulled the rug under me / And you set me free / Walk around feel the floor / Who could ask for more? / Pull away, pull away / It could rain all day / In the house with the hard wood floors" wood floors, from the album slide

"Somewhere / Someone’s sleeping / Somewhere i saw blue eyes believing / But all along i want to go / Into oblivion / Oblivion my friend / Maybe it’s time we said / I’ll miss you forever / But all along i want to go / Into oblivion / Somewhere someone’s freezing / Somewhere i saw blue eyes believing / But all along i need to go / Into oblivion / Oblivion / I love you / Maybe it’s time we said goodbye" into oblivion, from the album in the maybe world

You should start with Excerpts from a Love Circus, then check out the work that she did for the Bigtop soundtrack, which is pretty fantastic, too.
